Il Fri Jio at Toranomon Yokocho

"Kobore sushi"  ¥1,680

During the long weekend, my husband and I went to Tranomon Yokocho to find something new.  Toranomon Hills is a new city center and a global business center.

"Ume" set  ¥1,380“Yokocho” means a maze of narrow alleys where tiny restaurants and barbecue food stalls usually stand near the railway stations. But “Toranomon Yokocho” is brand-new and located on the 3rd floor of Toranomon Hills Business Tower.

“Il Fri sio” is an innovative Italian sushi counter with only 11 seats. The owner-chef, Mr. Okuda, invented a new style of sushi: Sushi a la Italian, served with salt and olive oil.

I had “Kobore sushi” with sliced raw fish and salmon roe on vinegared rice. “Kobore” means spilled over, referring to an outflow of lava illustrating the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. It was scrumptious!
